• People be having unfun games of magic the gathering for a variety of reasons
• Gibbi thinks that as a club with a magic community we need to make sure the community is healthy
• Will discuss more next meeting
• If you have thoughts on this issue feel free to talk to Gibbi/DM Gibbi
• In general, be mindful of other peoples play experience as well as your own.
• Suggested Solutions:
  • Rule 0 discussions
    • A conversation before the game to discuss things such as play-style, power level
    • Useful so people can express what they aren't ok playing against
    • Establishes a "two-way street"
    • Commander is a game of compromise, both in gameplay and in deck-building
    • Accepting certain realities of the format
      • The goal of the game is to win
      • Playing the game with your deck with the intention of winning is valid, but building your deck to win is more of a cEDH design motivation.
      • Losing is ok
  • People should be ok with giving and receiving feedback
    • Tactful and measured, preferably
  • Checking in with your pod after a game
  • We recommend anyone reading these minutes to start implementing these discussions in their games :)

Warhammer 10e 1k Tourney with Matt

• want to run a 1k point tournament
• many of the event details have been thought out
  • we've already done an EOI and we have enough for an 8 player tournament
  • terrain is organised
• players would be expected to supply their own dice and tape measures
• probably a $20 entry fee to recover terrain cost/fund event prize (Matt's plan)
• Have some concerns for Room and loft being booked out
• Ezone is an option

Specialist Mentoring UWA

• We've received an email from Specialist Mentoring UWA
  • A program dedicated to providing support to students on the autism/neurodivergent spectrum during their journey at UWA
  • They've invited our club to participate in an upcoming Social Group
  • They invite guest speakers to share insights about their special interests to their Mentees. A lot of their Mentees have special interests in board games and believe they would love to learn more about Unigames
  • Social groups are Thursday every fortnight 12-2pm
  • Presentation would be 15-25 minutes followed by board games
